* 1 cup active sourdough starter
* 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
* 1/2 cup brown sugar
* 1/4 cup granulated sugar
* 1 large egg
* 1 tsp vanilla extract
* 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1/2 tsp baking soda
* 1/4 tsp salt
* 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
* 1 cup dried cherries, chopped
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until well combined.
4. Stir in the active sourdough starter until fully incorporated.
5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
7. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped dried cherries until evenly distributed.
8. Scoop tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving enough space between each cookie as they will spread while baking.
9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still soft.
10. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
